This genuine Hakadi Sodium-ion cell has a nominal capacity of 5.5Ah at 3V, giving 16.5Wh of energy per cell.
About this chemistry
Sodium-ion (Na-ion) cells use sodium instead of lithium. Sodium is abundant and inexpensive. These cells keep much of their capacity at very low temperatures, can be discharged to a very low voltage for safe transport and storage, and contain no lithium, cobalt or nickel. Nominal voltage is around 2.9–3.1V per cell, depending on the cathode (layered oxide or NFPP polyanion).
About this format
Pouch cells have a flexible laminated foil case. They are light and use space very efficiently, but need a supporting frame and even pressure inside the pack.
Typical applications
Storage in cold climates, starter and auxiliary batteries, stationary storage, telecom sites, and any application where safety and low-temperature performance matter more than energy density.
