The Hakadi 18650 is a genuine Sodium-ion cell with a nominal capacity of 1.3Ah at 3V, giving 3.9Wh of energy per cell.
Sodium-ion (Na-ion) cells use sodium instead of lithium. Sodium is abundant and inexpensive. These cells keep much of their capacity at very low temperatures, can be discharged to a very low voltage for safe transport and storage, and contain no lithium, cobalt or nickel. Nominal voltage is around 2.9–3.1V per cell, depending on the cathode (layered oxide or NFPP polyanion).
Cylindrical cells have a steel can and are named after their size: the first two digits give the diameter and the following digits the length in millimetres (for example, 18650 = 18mm × 65mm). They are robust and consistent, and well suited to packs built with spot-welded nickel strip or cell holders.
Storage in cold climates, starter and auxiliary batteries, stationary storage, telecom sites, and any application where safety and low-temperature performance matter more than energy density.
