Zellchemie

Natrium-Ionen-Zellen (Na-Ion) verwenden statt Lithium das Element Natrium, das reichlich vorkommt und günstig ist. Auch bei sehr tiefen Temperaturen behalten sie einen großen Teil ihrer Kapazität. Für Transport und Lagerung lassen sie sich sicher bis auf eine sehr niedrige Spannung entladen, und sie enthalten weder Lithium noch Kobalt oder Nickel. Je nach Kathode (Schichtoxid oder Polyanion-NFPP) liegt die Nennspannung bei etwa 2,9–3,1V pro Zelle.

Typische Einsatzbereiche

Speicher in kalten Regionen, Starter- und Bordbatterien, stationäre Speicher, Mobilfunkstandorte und alle Anwendungen, bei denen Sicherheit und Leistung bei Kälte wichtiger sind als die Energiedichte.
